February: The LOVE month!

February is known as the month of love, but what if we treated every day of every month like we do February 14th ?

February 14th is considered by many, the greatest day of the entire year to express your love for someone isn't it? The flower and chocolate prices get raised higher than any other day. The pressure on the man to get the right card, gift and candy can be stressful and overwhelming to say the least. It really has become a very commercial day where many are forced to spend monies they don't have, in fear that they will experience rejection and unhappiness unless they live up to what everyone else is doing. "Keeping up with the Jones" or so it were!

Isn't it unfortunate that we focus so much on that one day rather than treating everyday as if it was Valentines Day?

As a retail shoppe, of course we love to see people come in and purchase cards and gifts for their loved ones for that special day. Its exciting for them to find just the right card and precious gift. But let me assure you that it's not about how big the gift is that gets purchased on that day, it's about the thought behind it and treating that person you love the most with the passion and love and generosity that you do on that day, every day.

Valentines Day should just be a reminder to all of us that love is what should fuel us in all of our actions each and every day we are alive. A note that just says "I Love You and I appreciate you", on February 10th can be just as meaningful. A simple singular rose shows you care just as much as a full bouquet.

The greatest expression of love ever given was by God. In fact the Bible says " God loved the world so much that He gave His only son, that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life"! ( John 3:16)

Love is not just for a day! It's for an eternity. Love should be expressed through every thing we say and do to those who are the closest to us, but also to those who are complete strangers. Love is the greatest healer. The greatest restorer. The greatest bridge builder. Let us show the love that God showed to us, to every person we come in contact with, not just on February 14th, but all the other 364 days as well.

We all have the opportunity to share love with others. In a very dark world, what people need is love! They don't need our political agendas. They don't need our opinions, or criticisms! They don't need us to tell them what they are doing wrong. They simply need you and I to love them! How can you show love to those in your neighborhoods, at the grocery store, but most importantly those who live in your home? let's start with a simple gesture of caring. By placing your needs aside for theirs. The song by the Beatles, "All You need is Love", is truth! "Love conquers a multitude of sins", the Bible says! So let's show more love!
